Everything we know about the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus
Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 15 generation on September 12, 2023. Here is what we know so far about the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.
Lightning port replaced by USB-C
Apple is finally ditching the proprietary Lightning port in favor of USB-C. This is a major change, and it’s likely due to pressure from the European Union, which is requiring all new smartphones to be sold with USB-C ports.
The switch to USB-C will make it easier to charge the iPhone and connect it to other devices. It will also allow for faster charging speeds.
Larger batteries
All models in the iPhone 15 series are expected to have larger batteries. This is a welcome change, as battery life has been a major complaint with recent iPhones.
The iPhone 15 Plus is expected to get the biggest battery upgrade, with a capacity of up to 5,000mAh. This would be a significant increase from the 4,323mAh battery in the iPhone 14 Plus.
Dynamic Island display
The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will have a new display design called the Dynamic Island. This is a pill-shaped cutout that houses the front camera and Face ID sensors.
The Dynamic Island is a more elegant solution than the current notch design. It also frees up more space on the display, which is good for viewing videos and playing games.
48 MP main camera
The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are expected to get a major camera upgrade. Both phones will have a new 48MP main camera, which promises to take better photos in low-light conditions.
The ultrawide camera will remain at 12MP, but it’s possible that it will get some software improvements.
Titanium frame for Pro models
The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will have a new titanium frame. This is a stronger and lighter material than the stainless steel frame used on previous Pro models.
The titanium frame is also more resistant to scratches and corrosion.
A16 Bionic chip for vanilla models
The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are expected to be powered by the A16 Bionic chip. This is the same chip that will be used in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, but it will be clocked at a lower speed.
The A16 Bionic chip is still a very powerful chip, and it will be more than enough for most users.
Price increase likely
Apple is expected to increase the price of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. This is due to the rising cost of components and the fact that the phones are getting more expensive to make.
The iPhone 15 is expected to start at $799, while the iPhone 15 Plus is expected to start at $899.
Overall, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are shaping up to be a significant upgrade over the iPhone 14 series. The new features and design changes make these phones more competitive with Android flagships.
