Xiaomi has announced that the upcoming Xiaomi 13T and Xiaomi 13T Pro smartphones will receive four Android software updates and five years of security patches. This is a significant improvement over the company’s previous software support policy, which only offered three Android updates and four years of security patches.

The Xiaomi 13T and Xiaomi 13T Pro are set to be released on September 26. If they ship with Android 13 out of the box, they will be eligible for updates to Android 14, 15, 16, and 17. They will also receive security patches for five years, which means that they will be protected against security vulnerabilities until 2028.

This longer software support policy is a welcome move from Xiaomi. It shows that the company is committed to providing its customers with a long-lasting and secure smartphone experience. It also puts Xiaomi in line with other Android manufacturers, such as Samsung and Google, which offer similar levels of software support.
